This is a definition that should not be taken lightly while involved in a hospital setting. Patients trust the facilities with personal information and assured that the information will be kept safe.
My Personal Learning Growths
During my internship experience, many situations occurred that challenged myself with the fine line between confidential and able to freely speak in regards to patients staying or leaving the hospital. I learned the importance of keeping information to myself, respecting patients wishes with what they entrusted me with, and being a trustworthy and efficient staff member. The challenging part comes into play when it regards people you know well and are patients. This was one of the biggest lessons I learned throughout my experience at the hospital that in many cases it is not about you and the information you are provided with and what you think you should do with the information but to put their needs, wants, and wishes above your own. I learned how to properly address situations and say what I need to without violating confidential information. I learned how to effectively communicate through trial and error in regards to confidential information and more.
Case Study
To effectively showcase what experiences I had with confidential information I decided to create a mock case study.
